We love coconut oil at Naturally Good Food! Whether we’re eating it, cooking with it, cleaning with it or improving our bodies with it, we love its silky smoothness, its subtle fragrance, its pretty appearance and, of course, its renowned health benefits.
Coconut oil is probably best-known as a cooking ingredient, so today, we thought we’d concentrate on that aspect. We’re going to look at five wonderful recipes that include coconut oil: one for each of the ways in which our customers tend to use this product.
But stop a minute! Do you have the coconut oil you’ll need to make these delicious recipes? If not, buy some now, from Naturally Good Food! We stock only the very best coconut oil. Ethically produced (no monkeys are harmed), organic, extra-virgin, unrefined, raw and cold-pressed, our coconut oil brings you the greatest range of nutrients, for the best possible results. Delicious and nutritious – it’s one of our very best ingredients.
Coconut oil in baking
Coconut oil is a great product for baking. It’s vegan, of course, and brings its own gentle coconutty aroma to the finished product. It also adds a real melt-in-the-mouth smoothness, which for us, is a quality that goes perfectly with chocolate.
This recipe is vegan and gluten-free, using coconut oil to make scrumptious chocolate cupcakes. It comes from The Minimalist Baker (and yes, we sell the other ingredients you’ll need too).
Coconut oil in spreads
Coconut oil makes a wonderful spread (so long as it’s not rock-solid – if yours is too hard, warm it gently before use). You can use it entirely on its own, to replace your usual dairy or other spread, but we like it complemented by other flavours too. Here we present: Spiced Honey Coconut Spread, from traditionalcookingschool.com.
Coconut oil in smoothies
Coconut oil adds nutrients, energy-rich fat, flavour and, well, smoothness to your smoothie. We’re fans of this recipe here, from Healthy Smoothie HQ
Coconut oil in stir-fries
With its high smoke point, coconut oil is great for frying of all kinds. Its tropical taste complements Asian flavours particularly well, as in this recipe from Skinny & Co.
Coconut oil in roasting
Yes, you can roast with coconut oil, too. This recipe, from Whole Made Living, makes the most amazing coconut-oil-roast potatoes.
One final point: if you’re not too keen on the flavour of coconut, or fear that it might overwhelm one of your more subtle ingredients, consider using Biona’s Cuisine range of coconut oils, which have been gently treated to remove the aroma.Biona Cuisine coconut oil, Coconut Oil, cold-pressed coconut oil, extra-virgin coconut oil, Organic Coconut Oil, recipes, unrefined coconut oil
